Tadcaster Swimming Pool update

The pool is still closed due to flooding and as such our coached sessions have been postponed for the time being.

A full re-opening of the pool is planned for w/c 1st February.

That means the first coach session at Tadcaster would be 4th February and the six weeks would extend to the 10th March.

T3 Winter Duathlon

Winter Duathlon

As part of our winter series we are to hold a winter duathlon on Sunday 31 January 2016.

The event will comprise of an approximate 2 mile run, a nine mile ride and finished with another 2 mile run.  The run will be along the riverside, flood water permitting, or along Wetherby road and the cycle leg will follow the Tad tri route.

By kind permission of Tadcaster community swimming pool the cycles racks in the car park will be the transition zone.  As yet they cannot confirm whether the changing and shower facilities will be available after the flooding event they suffered.

There will be a mass start 0930 with a safety and route briefing at 0920.  No spilt times will be recorded, only a finish time to cut down on the admin.  A simple points system of 20 points for the winner, 19 for second and so on will be used to feed into the winter series standings.  I will be looking to confirm names in the week before our race.

If anyone has a spare dog, child, grandma or similar to guard the transition zone and hold the stopwatch while we race that would be fantastic, if not I get a day off to wear all my winter skiing kit in the carpark!

As the weather cannot be guaranteed please dress sensibly, as good as our tri suits look they may not be the best choice for January…

i look forward to seeing as many of our club members, new and old, as possible.

Any questions or concerns please ask

Pool Closure – Update

A quick update regarding the pool closure:
    • Unfortunately the pool will remain closed for the time being. The contractors have been to site to investigate the damage further and are looking to put a plan together to fix everything.
    • The timescale is looking like at least three weeks depending on the availability of parts etc. This is subject to change.

Turbo Sessions

Message from John Rowland at Cyclesense:

“OK turbo fans the dungeon is opening for business on Wednesday 13th Jan. It will be in the same location Tadcaster Fire Station huge thanks to guys up there for the venue. The doors will be open around 7pm with the session starting at 7.30pm lasting approx 1hour. The first one will be a fitness test which will be done as a group so if you use power or heart rate you will need these and I will record the results. This will set your levels for the following weeks so please try and make this one. Depending on the weather it will be around 10weeks worth and costs nothing so what have you got to lose (apart from the ability to walk afterwards)”

Swim Coaching – Postponed

Unfortunately the flooding at the pool means that we will have to delay the start of our swim coaching by a week.

We will still be having the six coached sessions with Morg, but we are now going to start 1 week later on January 14th.
